Caitlin:

Recently I have been obsessing over tailored coats, especially long line styles. There are many I have been coveting lately, lusting over them and their structured beauty - I love how a coat can really make an outfit, add a smarter edge or make it more fun and relaxed with a pop of colour or some leather. As my love affair with tartan continues, I am longing for this below the knee, red check coat from Zara, the texture and length are just perfect: it is the dream coat. But for now I will have to continue dreaming ....

Autumnal hues

Autumnal hues

Autumnal hues by caitlinbanton featuring The Cambridge Satchel Company

Caitlin:

So suddenly winter has come all too quickly upon us, the days colder and the evenings darker although it seems as though i've only blinked and the seasons changed, with my brain still feeling as though it's in August. How has the time flown?! As the season has changed so has gradually my wardrobe, becoming darker and increasing in layers, the colour palette merging to an abundance of black with highlights of oxblood, cobalt blues and... tartan. I think I currently have a love affair with tartan. I have been trying to draw myself away from black  and tartan seems to be the answer. I seem to have began to live in just black ensembles and as safe as it is, it's not too lively and I need to remind myself halloween is over, so should stop dressing so morbid and using that as an excuse. Im looking forward to playing with splashes of colours and metallic hints to add a bit of fun to an outfit, an unexpected accent to add interest to a look. Another aspect i have been lusting over at the moment is textures: leathers, feathers,PVC and jewels. Individually using the fabrics or combining a few at once - why not, you never know it could work.

A Hint Of Bright Colour

Initially when thinking of monochrome chrome look, I liked the stark contrast of the black and white illuminated by a pop of colour, at first it was clutch bags which caught my attention. I had been lusting over a bold clutch for a while, either neon, holographic or transparent but I have yet to find my perfect match. However, there have other successes in the neon department, and cami wise I have added to my growing collection. Cami tops have been my go-to wardrobe essential this summer, whether dressed up or down they're effortless yet always seem to work.

And back in the room...

Sooo long time no see, and here we are meeting again. Finally.

I hadn't really been inspired and had been lacking inspiration, probably suppressed under the immense amount of wonderful AS level revision, don't you just love it? I had been keeping and eye on things on here, but today realization dawned on me that i'm not really feeling the current direction. When reviewing previous post i feel they're a bit 'meh' and we need more a bit more 'ahh', if you get my drift. I'd like to change things up a bit, mix things around so everything is a bit less regimental, more chaotic and creative - yet organised, how i'd like to describe myself. Can't always be so slick, let loose and go wild, having fun because fashion is the art we wear everyday, the platform of personal expression.... getting deep now.

From now on, even if things may not be looking as dissimilar, i'll be looking at things with fresh eyes so hopefully a subconsciously new visual insight.

Now this is here you have my word for it.For real.

Spring Brights

brights

brights by caitlinbanton featuring topshop bags

Caitlin:

The other day I thought I'd have a little go at dipping my toe into the world of polyvore after lusting after so many beautiful clothes and exciting spring trends. I was new to it all, so everything is just a bit experimental and thrown together- not a pro yet. After initially being rather overwhelmed and at a bit of a mental block after seeing the vast amount of items available to choose from, and my indecisive nature making it extremely difficult to choose what I liked best, I chose to focus on what seems to be the most inciting spring trend to me: brights. Im not really one to shy away from the out there colours and the fusion and collaboration of all the bright shades just seems so optimistic and happy, when wearing even just a splash of bright colour it makes you just want to smile and go around dancing to a summer tune (which I think a the moment my summer song is definitely Chocolate by The 1975, it's amazing) even in this lovely, snowy april weather. I think this summer, for me, is going to be all about either full on colour or a mixture of blocked brights, including a lot of whites (impractical but beautiful!!) and maybe a few metallics (those obviously being very loud too, why not just go for it?).

All of this makes me want this cold to finally disappear and the sun to rear it's head - come on summer 2013, we need you, you're going to be a good one!!

One Direction O2 Arena ahhhh!!

Caitlin:

So yesterday I travelled all the way up to London to the O2 arena, singing all the way to see the biggest boyband in the world - yes, my biggest (un)guilty pleasure One Direction for their Take Me Home tour. I don't think I have ever screamed so much in my life, you just get overwhelmed by the crowds and have to join in, I was definitely much worse the I heart Naill tattooed 6 year old sat next to me.

Once I had regained control over my One Direction Infection when the band came onto the stage, the show was incredible, even from way up in the gods where I was sat in block 418. You could see the band was obviously enjoying themselves, including audience twitter participation and the stage dismantling and flying the boys across the crowd. The pictures I took aren't all too clear as my camera was on maximum zoom as the O2 is a big place, and I was probably jumping around too much. I think whilst I was there I clearly expressed my love for the band, singing every lyric, even for the albums tracks when the rest of my block had sat down. I was just having a one- man party on my own, you have to take full advantage of the environment where that is acceptable!! After last night, I believe I am fully qualified for a role in One Direction, so if a position becomes available I will be first to apply (as if, in my dreams).

This wasn't my first One Direction show, I saw them back in 2011 at the Radio 1 Teen Awards, back in their chino days - which is where the last photo is from. Where I was a mere 5 metres away,if only the same yesterday.

Sooooo, now you are probably aware that I am a fully fledged unashamed Directioner, but I will stop waffling on (although I could go on forever) and become normal again. Overall, it was an amazing show, the singing, the jumping, the flying, the production - basically the everything. Directioner, fan or whatever or not, I challenge you to go to the Take Me Home tour and not have a good time!

Rimmel Lasting Finish Kate Moss Matte Lipsticks

110

101

Caitlin:

So recently it seems I have developed a thing for bold lips and in particular lipsticks. It all started in about September and kind of coincided with when Kate Moss launched her Matte Lipstick range for Rimmel. I was intrigued by them as I really wanted a some lip colours that would be bold, but not wanting them to be too over the top with shine as it was my first real foray into the world of bold lips, so the matte texture intrigued me. Also, the Kate Moss Rimmel ranges always seem to have a buzz around them,I was curious to have a try. So at their reasonable price tag a took the plunge and purchased, firstly the shades 101 (a dusky pink colour) and 107 (a dark almost plum red). I really liked them both, with them being matte lipsticks I had thought maybe they could be drying but the consistency was nice and creamy and they seem to last a fair few hours before having to be reapplied, I wasn't too mad about the taste - but your not really meant to be eating them.

Over time, on my many a trip to the drug store it seems I have nearly acquired the whole collection (there's another more nude type colour, that didn't really seem me) and nearly seven months i'm still very impressed, as you can probably see they are well loved and I would definitely repurchase.

I would say out of all the shades, my favourite has to be shade 110 which is a coral/orange colour, it's very bright and bold - perfect for spring. The picture above doesn't do it justice conveying the brightness - it packs a punch!!

What's your favourite colour? Have you tried the Kate Moss Matte Lipsticks, what do you think?

Alyna:

Hey guys, I should probably start by saying sorry for not posting in a while and I promise to post more frequently but the last week has been so busy. I've been revising for my upcoming exams which I am dreading about so wish me good luck. Also it's been my final week of being 16!! I am officially 17... the big one seven and I feel slightly more matured but of course I still have the occasional day where me and Caitlin dance to One Direction in my room with my mini strobe light. Everyone does it.

I wanted to do something different for my 17th and explore this tiny island of Britain by having a day trip to Bath Spa. Bath is a beautiful city , surrounded  by traditional architectural buildings influenced by the 1900s structure. Me and Katie managed to visit a lot of small, hidden boutiques which I thought were beautiful. We found a vintage shop which was dedicated to designer labels so i was able to touch real Chanel embellished clothing and accessories. Since it was my birthday, I thought I would visit the sweet shop and buy a huge amount of sweets ... big mistake, I had the biggest sugar rush that lasted for an hour before I had my Nandos. Later during the day, we visited this cute coffee shop which had classic furniture through out the shop. The overall day was brilliant, I brought some neon earrings, high waisted skinny jeans, a baby blue satchel and gold chain necklace. To make life that bit better, I received Tom Odell concert tickets from Katie and Jake Bugg tickets from Caitlin. As you can probably guess from photos, Caitlin wasn't with us since she was working so the trip wasn't the same.

I decided to wear my checkered print trousers to express the monochromatic trend  I wore my black crop top to compliment the contrasted trousers to help illustrate the focal point of the outfit.
